Zane Buckner

August 1, 1942 — May 7, 2019

Zane Lucretia Vickers Buckner, 76, of North Little Rock, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday May 7th, 2019.

Services to be held at First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, 6701 JFK Blvd on Monday May 13th, 2019. Visitation will be held at 1pm with the memorial service immediately following at 2pm. There will be a private burial at a later date.

Zane was born August 1st, 1942 in Stuttgart to Ralph and Tennie Tarkington Vickers. Zane graduated in 1960 from Stuttgart High School. She married Charles S. Buckner, Jr in 1963. Zane was a social butterfly. She never met a stranger. She loved people and people loved her. She drew people in by her dazzling, dynamic personality; warm and sincere smile; her sweet southern voice; and her "Zane-isms" like "I'm just getting older and slower" and others of which there are just too many to list, but if you knew her, you have heard them. She will be missed by all.

We’re sure she is organizing a Heavenly bridge group at the moment and enjoying our dad's companionship once again. Although, he had to wait 5 years and 9 days for her to get there. Zane was famously, or fashionably, late everywhere she went. Dad always said "there's standard time and then there's Zane time." Zane was an active member in the North Little Rock Woman's Club, the Red Hats Club, and several bridge groups. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church for 41 years.

Zane is survived by her son Charles Stowell "Trey" Buckner, III (Pam) of White Hall, her daughter Brandy Z Buckner Hethcox (Gary) of Springdale, seven grandchildren--Emma Buckner and Fiancé Thomas Johnson, Ruth Ann Buckner, James Buckner, Alex and Ben Hunt--all of White Hall, Katherine Hunt Durham (Zach) of Nashville TN, and Jordy Hethcox (Marie) of Bowling Green, VA, several nieces and nephews, her mother, Tennie Tarkington Vickers of Fayetteville, formerly of Stuttgart, as well as her sister, Tanya Vickers Hiryak of Fayetteville, formerly of Stuttgart and her brother Max Vickers (Elise) of Hazen.

Zane is preceded in death by her father Ralph Vickers and her husband of fifty years Charles S Buckner, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of NLR or a charity of your choice.
