William James “Bill” Meek, age 67, of Little Rock, died January 25, 2021. He was born in Camden, AR, to Tom and Betty Meek. He is preceded in death by his parents and his cherished sister, Ellen. Bill loved sports and excelled at high school athletics. After graduation from Camden High School, he attended the University of Arkansas where he graduated with a BA in Physics and cheered for his beloved Razorbacks. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from UAMS in 1979 and went on to become Board Certified in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. In 1987, Bill joined the senior staff at Scott and White Clinic in Temple, TX, where he became a trusted clinician, mentor, counselor, and friend. He especially enjoyed working with medical students and residents receiving numerous recognitions and teaching awards from Texas A&M College of Medicine and Scott and White throughout his tenure. He was proud of his role as Ombudsman for TAMUCOM. After 23 years practicing psychiatry in Texas, he returned to Little Rock to finish his medical career at the CAVHCS and the GLRCMHC.
Bill was a family man. He loved his wife of 42 years, Gail Eisenhauer, unfailingly. He was so proud of his two sons, James and Will, and the two daughters-in-law who later joined the family, Mollie and Kim. All four of them are now practicing physicians. Being a grandfather to three beautiful children was a blessing and a treat like none other. He loved being outdoors with his crew. Dove hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing, going to football or soccer games gave him immense joy. He was happiest with his family at Lake Ouachita, the Buffalo River or the farm in Texas.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gail, sons, James Christopher Meek (Mary Elizabeth) and William Joseph Meek (Kimberly), three grandchildren (Miriam, Christopher and Lyle) and his brother, Tom Meek, Jr., of Baton Rouge. He also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
