Richard Franklin Plant, M.D., age 81, died June 16, 2015. He was born February 23, 1934 in Clarendon. He is preceded in death by his son, Richard Scott Plant and by his parents, Zelda Mae Shawler and Mervle Plant. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Plant and his former spouse and friend, Juanita Plant of Little Rock.
He graduated from University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1960. He completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967. He was certified as a Fellow by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In addition to his love of Medicine, he enjoyed reading, golfing, fishing and snow skiing. He was also an avid flying enthusiast, having obtained a private pilot license in 1964.
