Mitzi Gaile Brooks Burch
January 31, 1955 – March 24, 2015
Mitzi Brooks Burch of Maumelle, Arkansas – formerly of Hot Springs passed away during the night Tuesday March 24, 2015. Mitzi was born January 31, 1955 in Chula Vista, California to the late James W. and Juanita McAnaily Brooks; she is predeceased by her Uncle Max and Aunt Gladys of Bismark, Arkansas. She is survived by her brother, J.W. “Butch” and his wife Joan of Las Vegas, Nevada, her sister Jeanne Longerbone and her husband Jim of Corona, California along with her many loved nieces and nephews, also her beloved ex-husband, Bill Burch, her forever friend, Michael Loper as well as her “life coach” Lalia Zakrzewski.

Mitzi attended Castle Park High School, Chula Vista, California; San Diego State and Texas A and M University. She participated in the design of the grounds at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas.

At one time, almost EVERYONE knew Mitzi – For many years she wooed patrons at Oaklawn Park Thoroughbred Race Course in Hot Springs, Arkansas. A waitress with “Style and Class”, her persnickety attention to details earned her the top jobs during the racing season and her level of comfort extended from the “Back Side”( barn area)to the Oaklawn Jockey Club.

Thru the years Mitzi was a major contributor to the local scene for decorating, landscape, horticulture design and advice. At Home In Arkansas; Real Living; Arkansas Times; Question and Answer Session in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Newspaper; City of Faith; KTHV Channel 11; AGIA; AFIA and Master Gardner. Mitzi had “Award Winning Design” flowing through her Spirit, effortlessly she made her customers “ooh and ahh” when she worked her “Magic”. Horticare; Service Professionals; Garden Couture and her many private customers all benefited from her unending willingness to “Make It Pretty” and her true unique ability to show others what COULD be done …. IF…they dared! Mitzi was FEARLESS with her Style… Personal and Professional!

Remember our Mitzi on beautiful blue sky days, remember her on cold rainy, dreary days, remember that silly giggle and cute contagious smile – she loved and truly lived life…it was a “gift” and she always shared it with her friends – If you took the time to read this and you are with us today, you know you are a friend and she loved you! In her honor and memory pass a good deed on to someone who is in need …. Give them a wink, a smile and a hug…they need it… you know who they are and so does she.

A memorial celebrating Mitzi’s Life will be held Saturday April 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints – 905 Kierre Drive – North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 in the Relief Society Room.
