Michael Lee Brandenburg (A.K.A. Brandy), 70 passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2016. Michael was born November 3, 1945 and spent his childhood in Galesburg, Illinois. In the 1960’s he began his career on the railroad with the Rock Island and in 2001 he retired as the Chief Transportation Officer of the Iowa Interstate Railroad (IAIS), and relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Michael was a Naval Veteran, a Charter Member of the Hot Springs Harley Owners Group (H.O.G), and a frequent member of the Breakfast Club at Greg’s Rise and Shine Diner.
Michael was preceded by his Father Don Brandenburg, his mother Elinor Herron, and Brother Brad Brandenburg.
Michael is survived by Daughter Jennifer Gargis and her husband Steven Gargis: Grandchildren Aaron, Codey and Hannah; Daughter Nichole Brandenburg-McGranor and her Husband Tim McGranor (Daughter Syndie Purcell); Brother Don Brandenburg and his wife Lynda Brandenburg; Brother James Brandenburg; Brother Drexel Brandenburg; Cousin Wayne Erickson and his wife Shirley Erickson; Cousin Peg Carey and her husband Steve.
Michael is also survived by many loving Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, fellow Railroaders, Galesburg, Illinois lifelong friends, Newton Iowa Buddies, devoted Healthcare Advocates and friends Deanna Hamilton and her husband Alphonso Hamilton, and his Girls at Tanfinity in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Interment Services will take place at Henderson Cemetery in Henderson, Illinois on November 16th at 11am, with Reverend Garry Gunther officiating; anyone that wishes to attend are welcome.
