Mary “Jan” Butler, 85, of Mabelvale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2020. Jan was born and raised in Atkins, AR daughter of the late Frank English & Thelma McCabe English. She was a 1956 graduate of Arkansas Tech University, where she earned her BS in Physical Education with a minor in Mathematics. She taught Math and P.E at Mabelvale High School mid 50’s for several years. Married to a military man, she traveled all over the world following the love of her life with the Air Force, raising their 4 children. Once settling back in Arkansas, with her family she worked for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Services for 19 years before retiring in 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Robert V. Butler and daughter Rebecca I. Butler. She is survived by her daughter Tresa Butler of Little Rock; two son’s Robert V. Butler Jr. (Marcia) of Cedar Park, TX and Rhett Butler (Pat) of Granite City, IL; 4 grandchildren Sarah Oslin of Conway, Kristen Oslin of Mabelvale, Lynn Kraczek (Brant) of Cedar Park, TX, Jonathan (Crystal) of Severn, Maryland; 8 great-grandchildren; two niece’s and sister-in-law Sherry Wilmans. Public memorial services will be held at The Little Rock National Cemetery on Tuesday, Jan. 5th, 2020 at 11:30 am. Due to rising Covid-19 cases, we ask that you please wear your mask.
