Kenneth Shackelford

Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother Kenneth Gerald Shackelford, 73, of Hot Springs, died October 6, 2011. Born July 19, 1938, to Roy and Mamie Craig Shackelford, Kenneth retired in 1986 from the freight business. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Dickinson and Maxine White; two brothers, James Shackelford and Hollis Shackelford. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ratliff Shackelford, Hot Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Mary Shackelford, San Antonio, and Douglas and Elizabeth Shackelford, Hot Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Peter Couch, Hot Springs; nine grandchildren, Kenny Shackelford, Macon, Georgia; Collin, Shannon, Ellen and Clayton Shackelford, San Antonio; Emily and Trey Couch and Abigail and Alexander Shackelford, Hot Springs; two sisters, JoAnn Newkirk Shaw, Jessieville, and Sue Adcock Cunningham, Hot Springs; a brother, Roy Drew Shackelford, Hot Springs; two brothers-in-law, Larry Ratliff and Donald Cunningham, Hot Springs; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Shackelford, Hot Springs; nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday, October 10, 2011, 5 to 7 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Parish Hall. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Anderson, Joe Wallace, Larry Ratliff, Donald Cunningham, Wilburn Castleberry, Roland Mahan, Darrin Murry, Andrew Murry, Rickey Ragsdale, Travis Pierce, David Nabors, Rick Heitman, Matthew Tyler, Hot Springs Pulmonology, Chuck Watson, United Medical Services and Arkansas Hospice Staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s School.
