Jr. Mackey

Benjamin Franklin Mackey Jr., son of Judge Frank Mackey and Maxie Walker Mackey departed this life March 23, 2013. Born January 26, 1931, B Frank was raised in Little Rock, graduated from Little Rock High School, Northwestern University, and the University of Arkansas School Of Law. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maxilee Williams. He is survived by his sister, Mary Frances Phillips of Hot Springs, his three children, Ben and Beth Mackey Maryland, Stuart and Suzanne Mackey Little Rock, and Sarah Mackey Washington, DC; grandchildren James Mackey, Katherine Mackey, Emily Claire Mackey, and Stuart Mackey, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. Frank was active in his church, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, included locally on the Vestry, Sunday School, as Senior Warden, and raising money including funds for the trumpets in the rear of Trinity. At the state level, activity included eight years as Chancellor, Executive Council, Standing Committee, and attending the Episcopal National Convention; nationally on the Provincial Court, Western Council of Chancellors, and the Committee to Redraft the National Constitution. Frank was active locally serving on the UAMS Foundation as President, and the Arkansas Community Foundation as President. He was also elected to the Little Rock School Board and volunteered on the boards of the Community Theater, Arkansas Orchestra Society and others. Frank served his country in the U.S Air Force. Professionally, Frank was a member of the American and Arkansas Bar Associations as well as the Screen Actors Guild. Frank’s employment included stints at Proctor and Gamble, Booz Allen and Hamilton, AP&L, the Inglewood Foundation, several law firms including the Mackey Law Firm, and numerous acting jobs in Chicago and New York. Frank enjoyed traveling, reading, and spirited discussions. Frank’s family would like to thank the staff of Arkansas Hospice and Presbyterian Village for the loving care given to Frank. A service will be held 2 PM March 25th at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral with a reception to follow. Frank and his family ask that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to Arkansas Hospice, Trinity Cathedral, or the Public Education Foundation of Little Rock.
