James Taverner

December 11, 1972 — August 20, 2021

Maumelle, Arkansas

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of James Richard “Rick” Taverner mourns his death on August 20, 2021, at the age of 48. Rick was a resident of Maumelle, Arkansas. He attended Greenbrier High School and the University of Central Arkansas, where he earned a degree in computer science. Upon graduation he worked for Alltel, and he transitioned to Acxiom several years later.

Rick will be lovingly remembered by his parents Richard and Margaret (Krohn) Taverner of Conway; his sister Rebecca Taverner Coleman and brother-in-law Joe Coleman of Springfield, AR; his brother Matt Taverner and sister-in-law Lainy Burkard Taverner of Conway; his nieces Corinne Coleman Smith, Ella Taverner, and Abby Taverner; his nephews JT Coleman and Zak Haynie; and numerous relatives and friends.

Rick enjoyed reading, cooking, movies, and music, and he had a sharp wit and incredible sense of humor. He spent a lot of time with his nieces and nephews and was known for his “Adulting Boot Camp,” during which he taught his nephews the Rick Way of life. He was happiest enjoying a good pipe, a glass of whiskey, and stimulating conversation.  He was a kind, gentle man who never failed to make those around him feel comfortable and accepted. The world is a worse place for his not being in it.

A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family in a private gathering on November 13, 2021
