James C. Swanner, age 75, of Junction City died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. He was born January 14, 1938 to Charles and Mildred Swanner of Junction City. James served in the US Navy where he served as an electronic technician Third Class N, and was responsible for maintenance of the guided missile system aboard the USS Los Angeles. He graduated from Junction City High School with honors and continued his education at Louisiana Tech University where he graduated and taught math. He then became professor and deputy director of North West College, in Minden La. He resided most of his life in Junction City, being an avid hunter, fisherman, and great golfer. He believed in everyone having a good education, and also helped many others to receive theirs when unable to afford it. James was a member of Scotland Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by his parents, and stepson Richard A. Cottrell. Survivors include his loving wife Carol Sue Dickey Cottrell Swanner of Junction City, four daughters, Cindy McCaskill of Benton, AR., Patti McNeal Greg of Ruston, LA., Deanna Swanner of Carrollton, TX., and Julie Swanner of Minden LA.; step-son Donnie C. Cottrell Regina, step-daughter Danna Cottrell, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sisters, Emily Washam of Ruston, LA., and Mary Ann Mayrand of Rogers, AR.; his brothers Kenneth Swanner Ginger of Hot Springs AR., and William Swanner Liddie Faye of Junction City, AR.; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23rd at the Scotland Presbyterian Church in Junction City..
