Harlon Smith

Harlon Alson Smith of Hot Springs, Arkansas went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 14th, 2013. He was born on January 26th, 1957, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond "Bill" Smith, of Bossier City, Louisiana. Harlon is survived by his wife of 25 years, Tina Lea Smith, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his mother, Jean Smith of Bossier City, Louisiana; his son, Ryan Cullick Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana; step-son, Michael Ramey of Jenks, Oklahoma; two brothers, Guy Smith and wife Mary of Waskom, Texas, and Hal Smith of Stonewall, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Christopher Ramey and Aspen Ramey; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Terry Jackson, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and was a veteran who served in the Navy on the USS Nimitz and worked as an Air Force Reservist at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, Louisiana for 13 years. He also was a retired correctional officer with the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Omega Unit, and had also worked for the Garland County Sheriff’s Department. Harlon loved his family and tremendously enjoyed time spent together. He had a love for God and all of His creation, spending his free time out in nature, daily nurturing and feeding the woodland animals and birds. He will be missed greatly by his friends and family. A tribute to the life of Harlon Smith will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20th at the First Baptist Church of Hot Springs.
