Mr. Garland Michael Foreman, more commonly known as “Mike” Foreman, made his transition at Hospice Home Care on May 31, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 76. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Juan “Sonny” Foreman and by a large loving family filled with in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins, all who adored him. Also, many others that were not related by blood. There are far too many to list. He never married, but instead unofficially adopted a large extended family. Those of us lucky enough to be blood related felt like he was “ours”, truth be told, he was not. He was there for anyone that needed him. He met a young man in college, Allan Stuwart, that suffered health issues and he lovingly cared for him over 40 years.
He loved education and proudly declared himself a “Professional Student”. After graduating from Monticello High School, he attended Arkansas A & M in Monticello and graduated at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Then attended Old Miss, where he later taught. He got his masters and he was a dissertation away from his Phd in Medicinal Chemistry.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents: Charles and Lavetra Foreman; brother: Billy Foreman; sisters: Theda Stacks; Patricia “Tish” Welch and Charlsie Wiscaver. Mike was born at home in Wilmar, Arkansas, on October 31, 1942. He was sixth child in his family. Although he was a “surprise” he soon became the “prized” child. He used sarcasm like a surgeon’s knife. It was epic, genius and he always carved out a way for you to see the world differently. He was adored by all that knew him. He was a born teacher who taught, both in a classroom and in his everyday life. He loved opening a person’s mind up to new ideas. He was drawn to intelligence and kindness. Which was evident in his choice of friends.
The family wants to thank Scott Harper and Les Paul Wiles, for taking charge and offering steadfast support for Mike during this last year. Also, Ron Lanoue who escorted Mike to many medical appointments and last but not least Tim Troup, who was a loyal, devoted friend who spent many hours by his bedside.
A celebration of Mike’s life, will be held Friday, June 7 at 6:30 pm at Ron Lanoue’s Home 415 West 15th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202. Call 501-231-6741 for any directions and additional information.
