Frederick "Fred" Allan Long, 68, Benton, passed away on July 8, 2016.
Fred was born on February 27, 1948 to LZ Long and Edith (Gibbs) Long, in Newport, Arkansas.
He was a graduate of Filmore Union High School in Filmore, CA. He served in the United States Army and earned several medals and honors, including a Joint Service Commendation Medal. He was a retired state employee and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by his father; mother; and a brother, Jimmy "JD" Long. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three Children, Amanda Clark (David), Michael Long and Katelinn Long, all of Benton; two Grandchildren, Jonathan Clark and Aleena Brown, both of Benton; five siblings, Tony Long, Cheryl Helmick and Karen Long, all of Beebe, Gary Long of Dallas, TX and John Long (June) of Decatur, Texas, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, 10:30 a.m., at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W Maryland Ave. Sherwood, Arkansas.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the medical staff at Saline Memorial Hospital and Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, Arkansas. Services entrusted to Arkansas Cremation. Guests may register at www.ArkansasCremation.com.
