Donald Gordon McPherson, 92, went to be with Jesus on April 25, 2018. He was surrounded by his children Beth van der Meer (Gerry), James McPherson, and Sandra Williams. Don loved abundantly and was abundantly loved.
He was a mechanical engineer by profession, working in aeronautic and elevator industries, but he dedicated his life to serving the Lord, through youth choirs, church camp and the church itself.
Don was born in Denver, Colorado on April 28, 1925. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Esther Jean McPherson, son Robert McPherson, parents Edward Byron McPherson and Meda Bandy McPherson, and brothers Byron and Lewis McPherson.
His survivors include his three children, six grandchildren; Kelly McDonald (Jack), Nick Holton, Sarah DuBois, Matthew van der Meer (Liz), Holly Wray, Amethyst Williams, and four great grandchildren; Lauren and Zack Hanks, Pace and Havana van der Meer.
A celebration of his life in Fort Smith will be April 29, 2018, and in Lexington, Kentucky from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM May 4, 2018 at First Alliance Church, 2201 Old Higbee Mill Rd. His ashes will be interred in Denver, Colorado at a later date.
