DENNIS GORDAN COPPING, 72, of Little Rock, AR, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2020. He was born on June 30, 1947, in New York City as the first of seven children to the late Lionel S. Copping and Olga Benetsky Copping.
He was a 1966 Hall High graduate. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force as an ACW Operator for the Det1, 729 Tac Con Sq. (TAC). His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He received an Honorable Discharge on April 21, 1969 after the death of his father. He began working at the family business, Copping’s Arkansas Liquor, to help support his mother and 6 younger siblings. Dennis went on to study psychology and obtained a Bachelor in Art in 1976 from UALR and a Master of Science in 1978 from UCA. In 1979, he was board-certified as a Psychological Examiner for the State of Arkansas. He was a long-time resident of the Rivercliff community and enjoyed discussing politics and was an avid oenophile. Dennis was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brothers Frederick S. Copping and Roland W. Copping. He is survived by his siblings, Linda M. Moomey and husband Roy, Thomas L. Copping, Robert A. Copping, Cindy D England-Cooksey and husband Bruce and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at the home of Thomas Copping in Little Rock this Friday, June 26th at 4 p.m. A military burial at the Little Rock National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
