Charles Eskew Mackens was born September 16, 1933, to Susie Jane (Lewis Baggett) Mackens and Charley Mackens, and passed April 24, 2016.
Charles, better known as Charlie, was married twice. His first marriage resulted in two beautiful daughters, Tena Marion, and Denise Royce. They have given him seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Charlie was a truck driver on the west coast for most of his adult life. When he settled down back in Clarksville, he started working at Trane, as a security guard.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and visiting with friends and family.
Charlie spent his last three years in Little Rock, Arkansas, with his daughter Carrie, and her youngest child Jacob, also known as "my boy". It is there he spent most of his time being "contrary", but in a good way, relaxing at home, and being a kid again. Jacob and Charlie became best friends.
He is survived by his three daughters; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and his brother, James Mackens.
May he lay in rest with his parents; sisters, Frances Mink and Tennie Grace; brother, Lee Mackens; and half-sisters, Laura and Mina Bee Britt.
"Dad" had always said he lived a wonderful life and was ready to go. I would like to thank everybody who has been a part of it, including Arkansas Hospice, Dr. Mendriatti Parham at UAMS; everyone at the Kroger Pharmacy on Markham; tobacco store on Rodney Parham; and all of my dear friends who got to know him while he was here. " Daddy, you were loved and will be missed" - Carrie.
