Calvin Phares

Calvin LeRoy Phares, 72, died June 19, 2021, at the Eugene J. Towbin VA Hospital, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born December 5, 1948, in Pierre, SD, the son of Ralph and Hazel Phares.

Calvin was a very hard worker and enjoyed caring for the horses and dogs on the farm.  He loved spending time with Ashley and other friends.

He is survived by his children Charlene (Tony) Nicoletto of Clinton, IA; Christina (Jeff) Antos of Monroe, WI; Charles Phares of Conway, AR; Elizabeth (Victor) McCain of Lilbourn, MO; best friend, Ashley Harris of Conway, AR; sister Helen Bright of Hot Springs, SD; brother Myron Phares of Princeton, IA; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Calvin was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Johanna, and father, Ralph Calvin, brothers - Russell, Francis, Guy, and Conrad, and sisters Delores and Eva Christina, and beloved dog, Kilo.

Calvin was a graduate of Onida High School, Onida, SD. Calvin proudly served in the U.S. Navy from June 1968 through Sept 1971. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, and in recognition of his service, the family asks that memorials be made to the local VFW in his honor.
