Betty Griffith

Betty Jo “BJ” Merrell Griffith was welcomed into Heaven on June 25, 2015 at Baptist Health in Little Rock. She was born in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, to Golda Barks and William Wesley Merrell, on October 15, 1937.
BJ was a member, and Elder, of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, Forrest City, where she served in many capacities including teacher, youth leader, WOC, and choir member. She also served many civic, service and cultural organizations.
BJ was employed for many years at First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas and was the first branch manager of the North Washington branch.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gordon Griffith; four children, Janet Griffith of Crystal River, Florida, Jennie Pierce (Dana) of Jacksonville, Gordon Griffith, Jr. (Michelle) of Greenwood, Nicholas Griffith (Alison) of Washington, DC; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her firstborn, Julie Ann Griffith. She was the last of eight siblings. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. at the church on Monday, July 6, 2015, with a reception to follow in Pettus Hall. Memorials may be made to the church, 402 Dillard St., Forrest City, Arkansas. 72335. Services entrusted to Arkansas Cremation. Guests may register at www.arkansascremation.com.
