Winifred "Wini" Wooderson Grossman, 94, of Mabelvale, died Dec. 21, 2010, in Little Rock. Born May 21, 1916 in Sound Bend, Indiana to John and Harriet Hone Bockman, Wini grew up in Ohio and Oklahoma, and spent many happy years in Florida with her first husband and father to her children, Bob Wooderson, now deceased. Also preceding her in death was her second husband, Maurice Grossman. She is survived by her two daughters, Christine Slocomb, of North Little Rock, and Nancy Dockter, of Mabelvale; her grandchildren, Meade Slocomb, Brian Slocomb, Leslie Otero, and Kate Dockter; and extended family. Wini had a rare capacity to enjoy and take life as it came to her with equanimity, optimism, an independent spirit and a marvelous sense of humor. She deeply appreciated Nature’s beauty, dearly loved those close to her, and doted on her beloved dogs to the end. How she lived enriched the lives of those who had the fortune of knowing her. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Wini’s memory to the Humane Society or the Audubon Society. A memorial service for her will be held in the spring, a time of year she loved.
