William (“Bill”) Don Musgrove went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 17, 2024. He passed peacefully in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by family. Bill was 83 years old and lived in Cabot, Arkansas.
Born on January 8, 1941, in Springhill, Louisiana, he was the son of William D. Musgrove and Azeal Porter Musgrove. He grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana and attended Bastrop High School where he played any sport offered. However, he had a deep love for baseball and football.
In 1957, he met Donna, his future wife. The two were together from then on, spending most weekends cruising in Bill’s pickup truck. The two married June 23, 1963, and started their family in northern Louisiana.
Bill joined the Air Force when the Vietnam draft began in the 60s. He spent 15 months in and around Taiwan on cargo planes dropping supplies to the men and women on the ground. He retired from the Air National Guard after 26 years.
In 1968, the two welcomed their first daughter, Jacki. Their second daughter, Karen, was born three years later. He also graduated from Northeast Louisiana University at this time. The following year, Bill and the family packed up and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. There, Laney, their third daughter, joined the family. A father of three daughters, Bill was a “girl dad” and proud of it.
While in Little Rock, he kept his passion for sports by playing in church softball leagues. He never lost his love for the game.
Back home, Bill worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Large Case Manager auditing companies like Tyson, Walmart, and Murphy Oil. Bill worked for the IRS for 26 years.
In 2005, now empty nesters, Bill and Donna packed up once more and headed to Cabot, Arkansas where the two would retire. Bill was vigilant about upkeeping their pool to ensure his five grandchildren would always enjoy their time at Papaw’s house. While in Cabot, Bill and Donna attended New Life Church where Bill was rebaptized, recommitting his life to Christ.
Throughout his life, he would frequent Lake Ouachita where he was always on the hunt for the biggest bass, catfish, or trout. He also developed a love for golf which he played as often as possible.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Azeal. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Musgrove; his three beloved daughters, Jacki Hamilton (Jeff); Karen Robertson (Randy); and Laney Stogsdill (Shane); his siblings Sherry Brown; Linda Price (Ronnie); Julian Musgrove (Nelda), Tab Musgrove (Susan); and his grandchildren Lexi Cameron- Robertson (Ben); Drake Robertson; Parker Hamilton (Carli); Jasper Stogsdill; and Ruby Stogsdill.
There will be a celebration of life for William at New Life Church in Cabot on Hwy 89 at 10:00 Saturday, September 28.
