William Joseph Kolberg was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was the son of Andrew Kolberg and Lucile Sharkowski and was born on May 13th, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. He was extremely caring and fun-loving and loved videotaping his family and friends. He treasured these videos and held these family memories close to his heart. He was also filled with boundless humor and laughs, and always knew how to make everyone laugh, even during hard times. During the Korean War, when he served in the Navy, he performed many times as a stand-up comedian in their talent shows, making people laugh even back then.

Bill was also an immensely hardworking father. He relocated his wife and family to Little Rock, Arkansas for his career as an Engineering Technician at AT&T Teletype and a better life away from Chicago's bumbling traffic-filled city. He later was a Computer Technician at the Arkansas Department of Health and taught IT at a local college. Bill “The TV Man” Kolberg had many talents with electronics and fixed many televisions during his years. He loved working on computers and continued to do so up until his death at 92.

He married the love of his life, Evelyn Kolberg, whom he met at a dance in Chicago. They loved dancing together and it became their favorite pastime. He also loved reading, electronics & computer books, watching Mel Brooks movies and was a Star Trek fan of the original series. He also never stopped watching the movie, Men in Black.

Most of all, one of his favorite things to do was to make home videos. He loved filming his family and capturing precious moments of their lives. Before VHS was even available, he would record audio tapes of his extended family in Chicago during holidays and vacations, reporting mock interviews with his family and friends. He used to call this bit, “Man on the Street.”

Bill Kolberg always had a way of not only fixing electronics but also fixing people’s problems. He always had a knack for making people feel at ease and comfortable, and you could always talk to him. His children describe him as being their rock and their anchor in life. He was so caring, you could feel his care and love for you just by being with him.

He was married for 65 years to Evelyn Kolberg, the love of his life, who passed away in August of 2021. He and Evelyn had four children together; Susan Kolberg, Jerry Kolberg, Judith Tague, and Kristi Kolberg. His grandchildren included Alexis McAlister, Michele Conrad, Sarah Tague, Thomas Tague, Mary Hatton, Emily Tague, Daniel Tague, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was very generous with his kids and grandchildren and loved them all exceptionally.

Bill will always be in our hearts and will be dearly missed. Now we hold the videos he made dear to us, just as he did. Gone but not forgotten, rest now in paradise. Services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 12 pm at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, AR 72209.
