Susan Marie (Olson) Zach

Susan Marie Zach (Olson) of North Little Rock, age 69, born on September 27, 1955 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, was sent to her eternal dwelling on February 12, 2025. No longer bound by pain, she is free – a victory not of surrender but of release.

Susan, “Sue” or “Susie” as she was commonly known, was a bright light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sue’s journey was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering strength. Her sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of loved ones whose lives were touched by her. 

Sue is remembered by her family for her unmatched wit, her remarkable intellect, her impeccable ear for music, and a delightful quirkiness that turned ordinary moments into something memorable.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Francis Olson of Omaha, Nebraska. Sue leaves behind her devoted husband and life-long confidant, John, the pair having just celebrated 50 years of wedded harmony. As the guiding force behind the Zach family, Sue is cherished in the hearts of her children who feel her absence profoundly: Jenny (Matt), Jessie (Robert), Jacob (Katy), Kelly (Mike), and Kim (Nick).

Sue found immense joy in being a grandmother to Jared, Brennan, Ethan, Lily, Zach, Julianna, Griffin, Cameron, Alex and Maddie - their lives forever changed by the loss of ‘Peemaw’s’ winsome charm. Sue was a walking encyclopedia armed with a wealth of knowledge that could outshine anyone in the room – especially during an evening of Jeopardy, where she reigned supreme. Sue was a true music enthusiast, learning to play acoustic guitar as a young girl and curating an enviable record collection – one her children eagerly claimed as their own in adolescence. Through it, she passed down a deep love for music that continues to shape their lives today. Many Saturday nights, she and John would reminisce, filling their home with the timeless melodies of their impressive music catalog, a tradition carried on by their children today. Sue had a brilliant way with words – whether crafting catchy jingles to help her children learn their states and capitals, or effortlessly spinning clever verses from the depths of her beautiful mind.

Though Sue’s physical presence is no longer with us, her jovial spirit, warmth and wit will echo in our hearts, reminding us to laugh and live fully - until we meet again.

The details of the Celebration of Life service to honor the remarkable life of Sue are still being finalized, but we look forward to gathering soon to share stories, laughter, and love in her memory.
