Robert R. Trammell died in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 7, 2024, age 86. He was born in Little Rock on August 14, 1937, and spent the happiest years of his life with his grandparents, Frances Rebecca Henderson (b. Arkansas) and Arthur Yates Green (b. Missouri), both deceased. He is also predeceased by his mother, Nellie Green (b. Little Rock), his natural father, Thomas Joseph Musticchi (b. Latiano, Italy), his stepfathers, George Trammell and Raymond Leatherwood, Sr, and his former wife, Betty Carolyn Rogers.
Robert graduated from Little Rock High (now Central) in 1955, and he was president of the first graduating class of Little Rock University (now UALR). He attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas and received his Master of Psychology degree at UALR. Robert was a dedicated Psychological Examiner for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services for 42 years.
He had a life-long interest in weightlifting and was Junior Mr. Arkansas in his youth. Robert loved to eat and prepare great food. Searching for the best barbeque kept him happily occupied during his commutes to the Arkansas Delta in the later years of his work for the state. His favorite pastime was reading about American and British history. A kind man, he possessed a passion for sighthounds and had very fond memories of his Irish Wolfhounds, Greyhound, and Scottish Deerhound. Robert was gifted with a prolific vocabulary, a biting wit, and a photographic memory of the written word.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Lynn Newton (James), his son, Brett Robert Trammell, his grandchildren, Connor Robert Bruson (Alixandria), Margaret Abby Trammell, Carolyn Annabelle McCallister (Zack), his great granddaughter, Sierra Grace McCallister, and his half-brother, Raymond Leatherwood, Jr.
Interment will be at a future date in Oakland Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Humane Society of Pulaski County (warmhearts.org).
