Richard Lee Childress, a good, hardworking, honest man and loving husband and father, departed this life Tuesday, May 3rd from the Baptist Health Medical Center after admirably battling cancer for several months. Richard and Judy owned and operated Richard’s Service and Repair. He was well known in town for providing good service to customers as well as solid workmanship and reliable advice. Born to Urcell and Ernest Childress in Shreveport, La. on June 3, 1949, Richard is survived by wife Judy; two sons, Todd and Kris Karen Upton; daughter Christy Jimmy Gattis; six grandchildren; sister Georgia Jeff Rhodes of Shreveport, La.; brother Grover Mildred Childress of New Caney, Tx; and true friend and caregiver Loyd Hill. Richard demonstrated strong character, impeccable manners, and unquestionable integrity throughout his life in both personal and business matters and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Loyd Hill for all of his care and devotion during Richard’s illness. A service will be held at 2:00 Saturday May 7 at the Jesus Name Church of Christ at 1805 South Park Avenue in Stuttgart.
