Ray Allen Waters III departed this life May 4, 2024, in Little Rock, AR with his wife at his side. Born March 8, 1961, Allen was the beloved husband to Rachele (Williams) Waters of Little Rock, son to Ray A. Waters, Jr. (deceased) and Norwyn Johnston Waters, brother to Mary Catherine Dixon (James), uncle to Cole (Sydney) and Hope Butler, and Bailey Bennett all of Searcy. He also leaves behind his dear mother-in-law, Charlette Williams of Vilonia, many friends and clients.
While attending Hall High School, Hendrix College recruited Allen where he graduated in 1983 and met his wife, the love of his life. He graduated from UA Little Rock Bowen School of Law and was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1988. Allen began a solo law practice in Conway which he operated from more than 30 years. He truly loved and enjoyed helping people through his law practice.
Fervent fans of Funk and many genres of music, Allen and Rachele traveled the U.S. to attend concerts and take in the culinary delights offered during their travels. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including photographing birds and training dogs. Allen was a masterful chef, but it never bested his spicy wit and honest, sage insight.
The support and love given to Allen by the members of the George Clinton and Parliament- Funkadelic band will always be remembered, especially that of George, Carlon and Brandi Clinton, and Garrett Shider. The family extends special thanks to our Hendrix community, the staff at Arkansas Surgical Hospital, Allen’s angels on 3B Baptist North Little Rock and Baptist Hospice.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Allen’s wonderful life on May 18 at 3:00 pm in Worsham Hall at Hendrix College Student Life and Technology Center. Family visitation will occur following the service and strawberry desserts will be served. Allen would want everyone to dress comfortably; those attending are encouraged to wear purple.
Allen’s wish is for everyone to be kind, and to love and take care of each other despite perceived faults, defects or shortcomings. He will be missed by many including his sweet pups, Archie and Emma.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe sent to the Faulkner or Pulaski County Humane Societies.
