Peter Brooks

Peter Lynn Brooks, 71, of Hot Springs, passed away November 13th, 2022. He was born September 3rd, 1951, to the late Myron and Fern (Stapenhorst) Brooks in Kansas City, MO.

Pete went to Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. He received a two-year degree at the College of Marin in California in Automobile Technology and earned a degree from Harley-Davidson Mechanic School in Phoenix, Arizona. He worked nights at a 7-Eleven and and ate rice and beans for the duration, but he was proud of that Harley certificate!

He was a master mechanic who could get almost anything working. He absolutely loved motorcycles, they were his pride and joy. But he enjoyed fixing all kinds of engines from small ones to giant snow plows for the Jefferson County, Kansas Public Works Office during blizzards.

In his later years he valued the fellowship of his recovery program and the work he did at the Garland County jail for others.

Peter was a quiet guy with a wry sense of humor. His friends treasured him. He will be missed.

His two brothers, Robert (Bob) Brooks and Myron (Bud) Brooks past on before him, as did two of his brother-in-laws. Surviving him are his wife, Dian, and his sisters: Rita Ferry (Bob), Mary Brooks (Stuart Snider), and Sarah Brooks. Peter also leaves beloved nieces and nephews behind.
