Paul Fray

March 6, 1943 — July 10, 2018

Paul David Fray (75) of Sherwood, AR passed away on July 10, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lee, son Robert, daughter Malea (Rami), daughter Jane (Danny), and son David (Shelby), 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings Dr. Marion Bud Fray (Jane), George Fray (Linda), Nancy Fray Threet (Roy), and Emily Fray Atkins (Michael).

Paul was born on March 6, 1943 in Kennett, Missouri and was the son of Marion G. and Martha L. Mulcahy Fray. He is proceeded in death by sister Martha Jane Fray, sister Joan Fray Stitt, brother Rev. Arthur Fray, sister Mary Bell Fray Meredith, and sister Anne Lee Fray Tucker. He graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1961. In 1964 he joined the Arkansas National Guard. Paul received his B A in Political Science from Ouachita Baptist University in 1967. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas in 1973. He also held a Masters Degree in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, that he completed in 1983 in Fort Worth, Texas. Paul worked in many career fields throughout his life including managing campaigns for Lt Governor Bob Riley and former President Clinton’s congressional race. He ran a successful law practice in Arkansas and served as a Special Appointed Judge in Sherwood, Arkansas. In his later years he preached at mission churches in Texas. He spent his last working years in public speaking and educational projects within the Delta Region of Arkansas.

His personality was larger than life and he met every person as a neighbor. He wanted to make a positive impact on life and was giver and a difference maker. Singing hymns and playing Ray Charles and Bill Withers songs on the piano were a favorite pastime of his. Paul was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a very real man and put everyone at ease from the youngest to the oldest. He will also be remembered as an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at New Millennium Church, 6120 W. 32nd St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
