d. June 8, 2015

Paul Kenneth Ballany Jr. passed away Monday June 8th 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 90. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 17th, 1924 to Paul and Anna Ballany. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Kidd Ballany whom he married on April 29th, 1946 in Potsie, Missouri.
One of the many things Mr. Ballany enjoyed was bringing smiles to children’s faces while volunteering as a clown with the Shriner’s Association. Mr. Ballany was POW in WWII and was kept alive only because he could speak German and was useful as a translator. He earned many awards for his service to our country such as Purple Heart Medal, POW medal, and Good Conduct Medal. In 2013 he flew to Washington D.C. on The Honor Flight for WWII veterans. He and his wife spent many years after retirement traveling around the United States, even volunteering for several years at Yellowstone National Park. They finally settled in Mesa, A.Z. where they lived in a retirement community until recently returning to Arkansas. He added value to many people’s lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two sisters Katie Kirsh, and Eva Meyer. Other survivors include his children Sandra (Jerry) Hixson, and Denis (Cindy) Ballany; six grandchildren: Jeff Hixson, Julie (Travis) Young, Jill (Grant) Ponder, Kerry (Jason) Dare, Kevin (Angela) Ballany, and Tim Ballany; great-grandchildren Madelynn and Montana Young, Betsy and Ryan Ponder, Avery and Lillie Ballany, and Sydney Dare and many other dear friends that will miss him greatly.
