Mildred Montes, 75, of Little Rock, Arkansas peacefully transitioned her life into the hands of the Lord, June 27, 2021. She was born in Puerto Rico April 30, 1946 to Luis and Cecilia Montalvo. Her family immigrated to New York in the 1950s, where Mildred grew up before calling Arkansas home in 1974.
Mildred graduated from Eli Whitney Vocational High School in Brooklyn NY, 1965. She was a beautician for decades in The Heights area of Little Rock. Mildred loved her clients and often created handmade crochet items for them such as Christmas ornaments, and baby blankets for newborns, among other unique items.
God gifted Mildred with kindness and a sociable personality. She enjoyed life, with a love for dancing, cooking, and a good laugh. It was not uncommon to receive a handwritten note, card, or letter from her during special moments and occasions in life. She often prepared large dishes and brought portions to family and friends, sometimes when they least expected it, and was well-known for her Cherry Cheesecake.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, brother Luis Montalvo and sister Luz “Lucy” Taylor. Cherished memories remain for her sister Ramona “Monin” Montalvo; sons John (wife Lisa) and David (wife Brandi) Montes; nephew Bill Taylor; grandchildren Lizbeth, Angelica, Nathaniel, and Brandon Montes; along with a host of many other well-loved Family members and Friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 14, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 805 Sherman Street, Little Rock, AR 72202 at 12pm Noon. Immediately following the service, the family will host a reception in the Parish Cafeteria.
