Michael "Mike" James Dyke (age 38) tragically left us too soon. He is survived by his son Michael "Mikey" James Dyke II, parents, James and Terri Dyke, siblings, Esther Dunbar and Darren Dyke, grandmother, Faye Scissom and countless uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Born and raised in Las Vegas NV, Mike grew up around union construction workers. In his late teens, he joined the Las Vegas Ironworkers Local #433 apprenticeship school, which he completed in 2009.
Mike continued on as a successful journeyman ironworker for more than 20 years and took pride in “topping out” several of the monumental buildings in Las Vegas today. Mike's ironworker brothers will always remember how much he loved his work. He had a passionate way of excellence about him and an unbreakable bond with his brothers. Years ago, when he graduated from the ironworker's apprenticeship program, the foreman who introduced him said..."Who doesn't know Mike Dyke? If you don't. you will…!”
We will remember Mike for his unique ability to connect with people, making them feel valued and understood. He made friends quickly, never met a stranger and was known for his strength, vibrant spirit, bright personality and infectious laughter; all mixed in with a little goofy mischief. Mike loved playing disc golf too and could throw a disc further than most of his opponents. No matter where Mike was, you always knew when he was around.
The most difficult part of losing Mike is having to say goodbye way too soon and the nearly impossible challenge of learning to live without him. There will never be a way to fill the void he left here on earth.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we encourage everyone to remember him, not just for the sorrow of his passing, but for the impact he made on our lives.
There will be a memorial service for Mike on Sept 7 at 10am, located at Turning Point Worship Center, 3345 W Craig Rd, N Las Vegas, NV.
