Mary Thames Bundy

Mary Thames Bundy, 82, died peacefully in Hot Springs, Arkansas Friday, May 26, 2023. Loved ones were with Thames at the time of her passing.

Mary Thames Bundy, is survived by her sister Margaret Bundy Kahn, of Charlotte, NC and her brother Charles Henry (Hank) Bundy of Hot Springs Village Arkansas, nephews Kurt and Ben Satterfield, several other nieces and nephews and friends of many years.

Before retiring in Hot Springs Village she was the Coordinator for South Texas Library System, a consortium of public libraries. She was responsible for bringing them access to advanced technology, reference, inter-library loan, continuing education, video collections and other important library services.

Her generous and giving spirit supported several staff in pursuit of higher education, including advanced degrees. Her assistance extended to others in the Corpus Christi , TX community.

Thames was a passionate lover of books, music and art, especially tessellations. Possessed of a quick and delightful wit, she was a consummate punster.

Her affinity for the wayward, lost or abused cat knew no bounds, even inspiring a midnight ladder climb to fetch a very frightened kitty off a neighboring roof.

Of late, she was extremely concerned about repeated attempts to ban books in schools and public libraries. Thames, fierce defender of human and environmental rights, was met with generous fiscal support. She rued the decline of civility and manners.

She leaves a legacy of love, giving and laughter and a legion of bereft family and friends.

Thames requested no flowers or a memorial service. She suggested  those who wish to honor her can made a donation in her memory her two favorite charities:
