Margaret Sloan Morgan, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed from this world on March 7, 2025. She was born on September 22, 1936, in Tulare, California, the beloved only child of Frank and Leitha Sloan, who adored her.
Margaret is survived by her children, George Morgan III of Dallas, TX; Sara Morgan Bilger of Los Angeles, CA; and Julie Morgan Jacks of Little Rock. She was a cherished grandmother to George Morgan IV (Kelsey) and Rebecca Morgan (Will) of Dallas; Sarah Morgan of Austin; Morgan Hopley (Ryan) of Denver; Maggie Robertson (Joe) of Phoenix; and Hamilton Eubanks (Romi) of Kansas City. She was preceded in death in 2016 by her husband of 59 years, George Morgan, Jr.
Margaret spent her childhood in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where she graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1954. A natural beauty, she was voted Most Beautiful and Miss JHS by her classmates. She went on to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Exceptionally driven, Margaret graduated Cum Laude in just three years with a degree in Business Administration.
During her junior year, she met George Morgan of El Dorado, a first-year law student. They fell in love and married in Jonesboro on August 3, 1957. At the time, George had recently withdrawn from law school to enlist in the U.S. Navy. Together, they embarked to San Diego, where George attended Officer Candidate School, before being stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for two years.
Margaret embraced their time in Hawaii, forming lifelong friendships and even taking an extended tour to Japan during one of George’s deployments. In 1959, Margaret became pregnant with their first child, and by the end of the year, George resigned his naval commission. The young couple settled in El Dorado, Arkansas, where they built a life together and raised their family. Margaret was deeply engaged in her community, serving as a member of the Junior Charity League and First United Methodist Church, where she and George taught youth Sunday School. More than anything, she was a devoted wife and mother, ensuring her children were involved in a variety of activities and sports.
After George’s passing, Margaret moved to Little Rock, where she found a new circle of friends, continued her lifelong love of bridge, and became an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. A passionate sports fan, she rarely missed a game—especially when it involved her beloved Razorbacks. Margaret had a gift for making friends wherever life took her. She loved people and had an uncanny ability to learn a person’s life story within moments of meeting them. Her family imagines that at this very moment, she is probably quizzing St Peter about the details of his life.
A service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held on April 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to either Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church or First United Methodist Church of El Dorado.
