Leon Joseph Coulombe, 81, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at CHI Saint Vincent Hospital in Hot
Springs, Arkansas.
Leo was born April 22, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to Leo and Gladys Coulombe. He was the oldest
child and “Big Brother” of six brothers and three sisters. He grew up in Brooklyn and soon after
graduating high school was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean war. After 20 years
of military service, he retired and moved to Hot Springs after hearing about it from a friend. Leo would
end up spending the rest of his life there.
Leo loved to ride dirt bikes early in life. His personality made it easy to make people around him laugh,
even when they did not have it in them. He was an excellent cook and was loved/respected by family
and friends alike.
In August 2011 he married Beverly Gibbs (Coleman), and they were inseparable until her passing in
2017. They each had a relationship with Jesus Christ and trusted Him as their Lord and Savior. They
grew in their faith through membership at First Lutheran Church-Hot Springs, a church that they loved
and loved them. Recognizing their trust in Jesus, we know they are both in heaven now-together again.
Leo is survived by his son Ralph, daughter Jeanette (Rob) Bachand and stepsons Graham (Lisa) and Kevin
Gibbs; his granddaughters Kaelyn Coulombe, Sarah and Alyssa Bachand and step-granddaughter Katie
Gibbs; brothers, Albert (Alyson), Raymond, Paul, William (Lisa) and Robert (Karen); and his sister Hilda
Rosario.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife Beverly, his brother Richard and his sisters Gloria
and Gladys.
A Memorial Service celebrating Leo’s life is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m. at First
Lutheran Church-Hot Springs (105 Village Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Feet (www.samaritansfeet.org).
