Kathryn Ann Thompson

November 24, 1965 — January 24, 2025

North Little Rock, Arkansas

Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Thompson, a vibrant and unforgettable soul, passed away peacefully, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on November 24, 1965, in Chicago, she was the beloved daughter of Penelope and Roger A. Thompson Jr., and the cherished big sister of Roger.

Kathy's life was a rich tapestry woven with diverse passions and an unwavering spirit. She grew up in Chicago's Roscoe Village, attended St. Luke Academy ('80), and graduated from Notre Dame for Girls in 1984. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to DePaul University and ultimately to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she earned her Bachelor's in History in 2014 and later pursued a Master's in the same field.

A devoted aunt and godmother, Kathy showered her love upon Dalton, Jacob, and Abigail. Adventures with "Aunt Kathy" were a cherished part of their childhood, filled with trips to museums, car shows, and the zoo, especially to visit the rhinos. And, of course, no adventure was complete without stops at Pete's Pizza and Portillo's!

After the passing of her mother, Penny, in 2014, Kathy moved to Little Rock, where she lived with her brother's family while completing her degree at UALR in 2017. Her interests were as varied as they were passionate: she adored the Beatles, admired the artistry of Georgia O'Keefe, collected Christmas ornaments with zeal, practiced political history with dedication, and embraced all things British (IYKYK).

Kathy was a force of nature – bold, stubborn, deeply caring, and a staunch Democrat. Her memory will be forever cherished by her brother, Roger; her nephews, Dalton and Jacob; her niece, Abigail; her lifelong friends, Roz, Anna, and Nora; her classmates; her professors; her friends; and all those whose lives she touched, even those who may have received a playful finger gesture along the way.

We love you, Aunt Kathy. Past the Moon, past Saturn, past all the stars in the night sky, and all the way back again.
