Joseph Weldon Fowler

Joseph Weldon Fowler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on August 7, 2023. Joe was born on December 16, 1938, in Macon, Mississippi. 

Joe's journey began in Lambert High School in Lambert, Mississippi. After completing high school, Joe pursued higher education at Delta State University. Joe also had a strong sense of duty towards his country. He joined the Army National Guard and served with honor during his time in service. 

During his professional life, Joe found his calling in the field of manufacturing as an industrial engineer. His career spanned many decades. He retired at the age of 61.

Joe's love for sports shone brightly throughout his life. As a young man, he excelled as a multi-sport athlete. However, it was golf that captured Joe's heart as an adult. 

In addition to golf, Joe held a deep passion for football. For over six decades, he ardently supported the Ole Miss Rebels football team. Joe's unwavering loyalty made him a true Rebel through and through.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, Weldon and Marguerite Fowler and his brother, Jimmy Fowler. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Windham Fowler and his sister, Anne Fowler Smith (Joe). He is also survived by his children, Andrea Childress (Doug) and Michael Fowler (Aria). He is also survived by his grandchildren - Lauren Clark (Shawn), Aaron Childress (Lindsey), Trent Fowler (Brenda), Chelsea Fowler, Colton Fowler (Jessica), Lacey Poe (Stephen), Jon Holland, Chris Holland, and ten great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Harriet Bland, our dear friend and his caregiver for three years. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
