Jodie Franklin Minick of Little Rock passed away on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017. He was born February 4, 1938 in Big Flatt, AR to Lester Lee and Willadean Minick.
Jodie was preceded in death by his mother and his first wife of 48 years, Joan Minick. He is survived by his father, Lee Minick; his wife, Joyce Minick; one son, Mike Minick; grandsons, Mark Minick and Mathew Minick; brothers, Tony Minick and Bobby Minick and their families as well as many other friends and "adopted" families who loved him.
Jodie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retired truck driver, an avid sportsman, a world traveler and a master at gardening. He loved to grow huge watermelons and beautiful roses that he enjoyed giving to the people important in his life. He loved to joke around with his friends and family and had a great laugh. He retired young and lived life to its fullest while he was healthy.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful Team at House of Three for their love, care and compassion over the last few months of Jodie's life. The family also thanks the incredible Staff at the VA Hospice Unit for taking such great care of him in his final days.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 8 at 10:00 at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery Pavilion, 1501 W Maryland Avenue, Sherwood, AR 72120. The service will be casual dress just as Jodie would have liked. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205 or the charity of your choice.
