James Scott Deaton, born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on August 13, 1964 to Charlie and Lucille Deaton passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2024, after a 13 month battle with cancer just days after his 60th birthday.
Scott was the most gentle soul. He quickly made many friends and helped people wherever life took him. Amidst the hardships and obstacles that he faced in life, he always knew how to make others happy. He always saw the good in people which made everyone just want to be around him. He spread joy and rays of sunshine in the lives of everyone who knew him. Affectionately known to many as “Scooter”, he taught those he loved to always look on the bright side of things. Scott “Peepaw” loved his grandkids immensely. He worked in construction building beautiful homes and driving trucks, but his biggest passion in life was music, specifically playing his guitar, writing songs and singing. His love of music will pass down for many generations to come.
James Scott Deaton is survived by his wife Maria Deaton, who tirelessly loved and cared for him until the very end, his 3 children Jennifer Thurow, Katie Caudle, and Judson Goodrich, 2 stepson William Brown , Robert Brown and his 6 grandkids, Kayli, Kennedy, Cody, Lawson, Leighton and Lucy.
