Irvin Travis Jackson

October 11, 1949 — November 6, 2024

Redfield, Arkansas

Irvin Travis “Jackie” Jackson, Jr., passed away November 6, 2024, at his home in Redfield, Arkansas. He was born October 11, 1949. Jackie had an amazing ability to make friends, make others feel at home, and be the life of the party. He was a genuine person, who loved his family, friends, and life, and was not afraid to share this love with strangers. Jackie was also not shy about bragging about his beloved wife “Pats”, his daughters, his grandchildren, and their many accomplishments.

Jackie graduated from White Hall High School in 1967, and from the University of Central Arkansas, with a B.S. in Science. After a brief teaching career at England Academy and Sheridan Junior High School, he returned to school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy.

Jackie began his pharmacist career with Consumer’s Pharmacy in Camden, before moving to the Consumer’s Pharmacy on Hazel Street in Pine Bluff. He eventually became part-owner of and a pharmacist at the USA Drugs on Dollarway Road in Pine Bluff. USA Drugs was sold to Walgreens in September of 2012, and Jackie worked for Walgreens until he retired near the end of 2013. Jackie loved being a pharmacist, and he made many friends with his customers and employees over his years as a pharmacist. He also enjoyed the fact that his wife Patsy and all of his daughters worked at his store at one point.

Jackie loved to cook, hunt, fish, camp, golf, and float the Buffalo River. His favorite card game was “Pitch”, and he and his brother Jimbo were always partners in the Pitch tournament at the Jackson Family Reunion on Petit Jean Mountain. Jackie also loved to spend time riding the backroads and hanging out at Tar Camp Park. If you visited Jackie, there was a good chance you would end up as a passenger in his truck with a drink in your hand and the music just a little bit too loud.

Jackie had many lifelong friends in the Redfield community, whom he enjoyed spending time with, and who were there for him until the end. The family especially appreciates the kindness and devotion these friends showed to Jackie in the later stages of his life, as well as the help provided by neighbors and the Hospice Homecare in White Hall. Duck, one of Jackie’s furry friends, was also a source of comfort and companionship for him as he neared the end of his life.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Irvin Travis Jackson, Sr., and his mother, Dottie Lee Jackson (Hipp). He is survived by his wife, Patricia D. “Patsy” Jackson (Perry), whom he married on July 29, 1990; his daughters, Tessa Gail Koon (spouse Kevin Koon), Gina Jackson McNabb (spouse Jeremy McNabb), Allison Jackson Qualls (spouse Mason Qualls), and Lauren Elizabeth Jackson; his grandchildren, Anna Grace McNabb, Jackson Gene Koon, Ava Catherine McNabb, Allie Caroline McNabb, and Aubrey Gardner McNabb; his siblings, Sandra L. Case (spouse Gary Case), James Mayhew “Jimbo” Jackson (spouse Rita Jackson), and Beverly Leigh (spouse Donnie Leigh); many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and his first wife, Barbara Jackson (Ballew).
