Delton "Dale" Earl Kemp passed away at age 71 on May 3rd 2022, after a valiant 12 year battle with cancer. He faced each challenge with acceptance and stayed strong until the end.
Dale served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and battled the effects of Agent Orange exposure until his passing. He was a member of the VFW and proudly flew the US flag, POW/MIA and Arkansas flags in his front yard.
Dale was a native of Vernon, Texas. Dale was a free spirit settling on Mississippi's Gulf Coast where he met Gwen. They were married and enjoyed life together in Biloxi, MS for eleven years until hurricane Katrina encouraged their move to Hope, AR.
Dale earned an electrical certificate from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He took pride in his work to become a journeyman electrician and superintendent. His work allowed him the opportunity to travel the eastern states throughout his career.
Dale enjoyed sharing embellished stories, laughing at you and along with you leaving a smile on everyone’s face. His love for sweets was acknowledged by being an official member of the Blue Bell (ice cream) Country Club and was given the Cream of the Crop award.
He had a passion for playing the Indian flute, his Native American heritage, tracing ancestry and visiting significant family sites.
Dale was often found soaking up sun rays, camping with his wife, burning food on the grill, trying to out-fish others, playing at the poker tables, attending rodeos and live country music events.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Huett-Kemp; his sons, Jeffery Earl and Tony Dale and their families; and stepchildren, Jamon, Robyn and Caren and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, Johnny Kemp, Billy Ray Kemp; three sisters, Earleen Ostravich, Linda Joyce Fields and Shirley Marcario, and granddaughter Geri Seago-Moga.
Dale was truly a unique soul and is deeply missed by his family.
Per Dale’s request, an outdoor Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with appropriate attire being blue jeans and western wear. Delton Earl Kemp will have military honors at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
“The Restless Cowboy” is now at rest.
