David King

August 2, 1943 — December 20, 2017

David King was born on August 2, 1943 to Paul and Marie King in Marion, Indian. He died December 20, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughters, Gretchen Littlefield (David) and Jamee King both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; stepchildren, Kristina Clark (Mark) of Norton Shores, Michigan and Kevin Coultas of Kalamazoo, Michigan; grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Clark; and sister, Karen Milford of Titusville, Florida.

David loved music and sang bass and played piano with the Gospel Messengers as a young man. He served his country as a navigator with the U.S.A.F. during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He enjoyed a lifelong career in radio and television as an announcer, host of many shows including Fishing Hot Spots, and as the meteorologist in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also managed a radio station in Monterey, California.

He deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, and they valued time spent with him learning and laughing, sharing a homemade meal, playing games, and hearing stories. He was an excellent fisherman and a fabulous cook who would always add just a touch more butter.

He was a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church where he taught the Men’s Bible Study class for many years. He gave warm hugs and touched the hearts of many. David will be deeply missed.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Highland Valley United Methodist Church. Reception to follow.
