Carolyn Kay (Moore) Schindel

August 12, 1937 — February 26, 2025

Hot Springs Village, Arkansas

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Carolyn Kay Schindel who left us peacefully, with her daughter and son by her side, on February 26th, 2025, at her home.

Carolyn was born on August 12th, 1937, in El Dorado, Kansas to Walter Max Moore and Kathryn Elizabeth (Mouchette) Moore. She married her first love Darrell Duane Iverson on August 3rd, 1957, and they had 15 wonderful years together until he passed away in 1972. She married her second love Eugene (Gene) Walter Schindel on May 1st, 1982, and they had 32 wonderful years together until he passed away in 2014. Carolyn was fortunate to find love twice with two wonderful men who loved her deeply.

Carolyn was a devout Christian, loving and caring wife, mother, grandma and friend. Carolyn spent her early adult life living in Augusta, Kansas. After graduating from Augusta High School in 1955 she did secretarial work in Augusta and Wichita Kansas. Her later career in Kansas City Missouri included secretarial and bookkeeping positions with her last position being with Kansas City Life Insurance Company.

She also was a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church. When she retired with Gene, they spent the rest of their life down in Hot Springs Village living the lake life on Lake Desoto and traveling to their favorite countries throughout Europe and the United States.

She loved participating in church activities at Faith Lutheran Church, especially the Quilters Guild that made quilts and other items for charity projects. Her quilting passion continued making special quilts for family members on special occasions and on the birth of a child.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Kathryn Moore, her husband Darrell Iverson, and her husband Gene Schindel. She is survived by her sister Judy Gaffney (Dennis), brother P. Whitney Rounds (LouAnn), son Kurt Iverson, daughter Kim Orton, step-daughter Jeanine Lingle (Kim), step-son Mark Schindel (Carol). In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Tyler Orton, Megan Lingle, Ryan Lingle (Jenny), Carrisa Torres (Ricardo), Davin Schindel (Molly), and Cody Schindel (Joanna). She had 7 beautiful great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, all who she loved dearly.

Services for Carolyn will be held Saturday, March 15th at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
