Billy "Darrell" Chancey, age 71, of Ward, Ark., lost his long battle with ALS Wednesday, August 24, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones at his home.
Darrell was a disabled Vietnam veteran who loved his country, his family and his loving canine companion, Lillie.
Darrell is the son of the late Evelyn Leatherwood and the late Bill Johnson Chancy; he is also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Miller Chancey and two sons, Allen Hindsley (Cindy), who was able to be by his side as his caregiver the last six months of his life, and Randal Hindsley (Brandy) and one granddaughter, Taylor Hindsley. Three brothers, Eddy Chancey (Lynn), James Leatherwood (Kathy), Andy Coates (Evelyn), and two sisters, Janice Spakes (Larry) and Anita Woods.
A memorial service will be held at the family's home Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the ALS Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
