Betty June Hankins, age 88, of Bryant, passed away on October 21, 2022. Betty was born on April 9, 1934, to the late Irvin Allen Humbard and Edith Lois Humbard. She is also preceded in death by her first husband Charles Jones: four siblings, Faye Dennis, Virginia Eagan, Nina Inman, Jack Humbard and one son, Chuck Jones.
After graduating from Central High School in Little Rock, she married Charles Winston Jones. The couple travelled for many years during his service in both the United States Air Force and Navy. They returned to central Arkansas and settled in North Little Rock to raise four children. Betty was a housewife for many years and never missed her children’s ball games or sports meets. She loved to camp at Greers Ferry lake and always owned a boat and taught her children to ski as soon as they could hold the ski rope.
Later in life Betty had a successful career as a Walmart Jewelry Representative until her retirement. Betty was very involved in the life of her grandchildren and became known as “Bebe” to them all. She made sure to spend special time with all her grandchildren. Bebe and her first grandchild (Jonivan Jones) had many adventures in the Bebe mobile. She then packed up and drove to Medford Oregon to spend several years living with her daughters’ children (Nick & Sam). Bebe returned to Bryant when her last grandchild was born (Jordan), she lived the remainder of her life in the Bebe apartment between her two sons’ homes and helped raise her grandson, Jordan.
Betty traveled whenever possible and especially liked the Oregon Coast and searching for lighthouses with her daughter Jane. She made several trips to New Orleans enjoying both the culture and food. She also liked to cruise the Caribbean. Betty took multiple trips to the Florida Keys and loved snorkeling the coral reefs and visiting Key West.
Betty is survived by one sister, Jane Ellen Manning; three children, Brett Jones (Cyndy), Bart Jones (Lindy), Jane Stevenson (Rick); four grandchildren, Jonivan Jones (Ashley), Nick Stevenson (Ali), Sam Stevenson (Andrew), Jordan Jones (Beth); four great grandchildren, Donovan Jones, Bentley Jones, Waylon Jones, Willie Jones.
A private family service will be held.
