Susan Sortore

Susan Jane Sortore, age 72, of Magnolia, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock. She was born on September 3, 1941, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, to Ray V. Sortore and Jane Carey Sortore. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Magnolia, Arkansas, where she was active in The Women’s Circle, played the hand bells, and attended Sunday School. She was also active in Silver Sneakers and had many friends there. Susan was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Susan grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri, for over 40 years and retired from Fairbank Scales in 2010. Upon her retirement she moved to Magnolia to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Sarah. Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Kathy Ken Cole of Magnolia, Arkansas; DeAnne Stoneking of Denver, Colorado; and Janie Timothy Wilson of Craig, Colorado; six grandchildren, Jake Stoneking and Jessica Bryon Stephens of Denver, Colorado; Megan Jason Jackson and Andrew Cole of Magnolia, Arkansas; and Heather Christopher Klick of Manhattan, KS, and Joseph Kelsie Hugo of Pittsburg, KS; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Dave Jan Sortore of Spring Hill, Kansas; Dan David Sortore of Tulsa, OK; Tim Jeri Sortore of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Matthew Brenda Sortore of Coffeyville, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1417 N. Jackson Street, Magnolia, Arkansas, 71753. Memorials may be made to the Columbia County Public Library, 2057 N. Jackson, Magnolia, Arkansas, 71753.
