Michael Dale Morton, of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away at his home, September 6, 2017. He was born in April of 1954, in Humboldt County, California to Ather "Ace" and Delphine Sisco Morton.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, of Checotah, Oklahoma.
He leaves behind, his mother, also of Checotah, Oklahoma; sister Sharon (Jerry) Wallace, of Tennesse; two brothers Don (Diane) Morton and Gerry (Sharon) Morton, both of Oklahoma; a daughter Radeana Morton, of Oklahoma; two sons, David Morton of Oklahoma, and Brandon (Tyler) Morton of Arkansas; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other family and friends.
Mike worked for International Paper in Gurdon, Arkansas for 18 years, as a machine operator. Later in life, he shifted his skills as a Renaissance Man, where he enjoyed learning new trades such as being a draftsman apprentice.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and tinkering around with other hobbies. Mike was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and rooting on his favorite teams; especially the NFL with treasured friends.
Classic southern rock and comedic banter between friends were among his simple pleasures. Mike was a stranger to none, and a friend to all. So, the next time you hear Lynyrd Skynyrd , or a distasteful joke; smile, reminisce and take solace knowing that he is now at peace.
At his request, no service will be held. A private memorial will be held at the end of September where his ashes will be scattered around one of his favorite places.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge at www.turpentinecreek.org
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the overwhelming show of love and support received at this time.
