Gerald Bruce Golden, 77, of Bernice, LA, passed December 26, 2018. Gerald started his career with International Paper Company as a chemical engineer. He spent 30 years with International Paper before continuing his career as a consultant. He was a very knowledgeable and successful pulp mill consultant with Ford, Bacon and Davis as well as RSH Engineering, before retiring to his farm in Bernice, LA. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Gerald always had a passion for the outdoors and cooking for friends and family. His wisdom and kind heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gerald was born in Lake Village, Arkansas. He resided in many southern states, and traveled internationally throughout his childhood and career. He retired in northern Louisiana at his family’s farm, “Golden Acres”, where he enjoyed time well spent hunting and gardening with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Benoit “Bill” and Lola Golden and his sister Frances Rogers.
Survivors include his children: Lori Golden Fellows (Lyle), Tanya Golden Elmore (Mark), Raymond Lee Golden (Brenda), and Leia Ashley Golden. Six grandchildren: Paton Fellows, Lyle Fellows III, Emily Thompson (Joe), Tanner Elmore (Kenzie), Andrew Elmore, and Raymond Lee Golden, Jr. He is survived by his brother, Farrel Golden, and two sisters, Vivian Terry and Ruth Womack and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Gerald’s life at a later date to be determined by the family at Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubach, LA.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
