Dorothea Swaizer

Mrs. Dorothea Shern Swaizer, 71, of Fordyce, Arkansas entered into eternal life on Friday, January 6, 2017, after losing her battle with a brief illness.

Dorothea was born in Frederick, Maryland on March 20, 1945. She was one of eight children born to the late Charles and Marqueze Shern. She attended Frederick County Maryland public schools and continued her education in dental school in Long Beach, California. She served on the Mother Board at St. Mark Baptist Church of Long Beach, California, where she was also a member for many years, before her move to Fordyce, Arkansas. Dorothea best loved being a home-maker, mother, and wife. Dorothea also drove buses for Long Beach Public Schools for a brief time.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Prince; two daughters, Lisa Teasley of Hagerstown, Maryland; and Sarah Swaizer-Williams of Fordyce, Arkansas; four grandsons, Anthony Crawford Jr., Aaron Swaizer and Marques Swaizer of Hagerstown, Maryland; Jeramiah Lakes of Magnolia, Arkansas; three sisters, Janice Dorsey, Patricia Miller, and Rhonda Irvins all of Frederick Maryland; and one brother Pastor Julius M. Shern of Baltimore, Maryland, and many neices, nephews, and friends.



Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marqueze Shern; two brothers, Charles " Butch" Shern and Gerald "jack Rabbit" Shern; and one sister Ida Shern Dorsey.
