D. F. Reeves

January 22, 1940 — January 3, 2022

Conway

D.F. Reeves passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022. He was born on January 22, 1940, to Deward Reeves and Ruth King Reeves in Cushing, Texas. With a natural talent for bull riding, D.F. traveled across the United States as a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) from 1958 to 1971.

D.F. and Michelle, his wife of 51 years, first met in Longview, TX in 1969, and they were married two weeks later. With his business partners and loyal friends, Fred Beasley and Mark Parrott, D.F. started a successful rail container transport company called Quality Intermodal Corporation.

D.F. was a founding member of SOFTASK, an annual golf tournament that raised funds for children and individuals with special needs for over thirty years. In that time, D.F. was instrumental in raising over $1 million, 100% of which went directly to those children and individuals. Many people and institutions alike benefited from what D.F. and his friends had started. He treated his fundraising efforts like he treated his sales with customers, very personal and always willing to make the call. D.F. will be missed by many.

D.F. was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. In his free time, he loved country and western music, golf, traveling, and volunteering at his church. D.F. also enjoyed giving guitar lessons at Brekenridge Village. Known for his dependable can-do attitude and his usual pearls of wisdom, D.F. would say, “You’ve got to be smarter than the dog.” D.F. was a strong, generous, and loving husband, father, and community volunteer. D.F. is survived by his wife Michelle, son Brandon, daughter Brittany, granddaughters Grace and Olivia, his sister Mary Ruth Kucera, brother-in-law Bill Kucera, and many nieces and nephews.
